Connecticut Drain Installation

Contractors performed work on the $5.6 million combined sewer overflow correction project in the Orange/Bishop Street area of New Haven, Connecticut. They installed a 48” storm drain and a 24” sewer in a common trench. Due to the close proximity of existing utilities, the specifications called for sheeting left in place. The Orange Street trench, which was 13' wide, 17' deep, and approcimately 800' long, was competed in approximately 10 days

They then moved to Lawrence Street and installed 700’ of 36” storm drain approximately 14’ deep. In order to preserve an existing brick sewer adjacent to the trench, they used the American Shoring Slide Rail System with Rolling Struts.

For part of this job, American Shoring’s Slide Rail Shoring was used as a cofferdam on a 36” storm drain outfall into the Quinnipiac River. A Utility Crossing Frame & KD 6/8 Sheets were purchased from American Shoring, and are still frequently used in areas congested with utilities. The use of American Shoring’s products, combined with swift service played a major role in the success of this job, putting the contractor ahead of schedule and within budget.
